Parc-nature de l’Île-de-la Visitation is steeped in close to 300 years of history. Its location on the shores of the Rivière des Prairies was once home to Canada’s first industrial site! The old windmill, apple press and vestiges of the industrial past of this heritage site, dating back to the French regime, are open to the public.*
Scenic lookouts provide breathtaking views of the river. Discrete and inviting, this nature park offers a network of paths ideal for strolling and observing species of shore birds.
* The Maison du Meunier, which was closed for major consolidation, restoration and redevelopment work, is now accessible to the public again.
